Virtualisation driving sustainable profits
What
Hydro Tasmania needed
Logica has
been working with Hydro Tasmania since 1998. The former Hydro Electric
Commission separated into three companies offering energy generation,
electricity distribution and retail connections. All the groups continued to
share corporate technology infrastructure and ultimately needed one IT
division, to provide IT services to three companies.
The
challenge
Rather than
hire in-house resources, Hydro Tasmania decided to move to an outsourced IT
arrangement with Logica, primarily to reduce IT costs, gain access to
additional skill sets and free up management time to focus on its core
business.
The
result
Logica
created and rolled out a VMware virtualisation solution that was sustainable
across Hydro Tasmania’s entire IT network. The result was a better IT
environment – paying for itself within 12 months and saving money, space,
hardware and provision times.
