Logica creates new technology practice leads

28 July 2011

Logica Australia, a leading IT and business services provider, today announced it has made two executive appointments within its Australian team to lead its smart infrastructure, asset management and information management business practices.

“We have built a strong reputation for being one of Australia’s leading technology companies for the energy & utilities, government, transport and asset intensive sectors,” said Colin Holgate, CEO Asia Pacific and Australia, Logica. “We have grown our business over the past 30 years by working in close partnership with our clients to address the challenges facing their everyday business. Paul will lead our enterprise asset management and enterprise information management practices, and Carly our smart infrastructure practice, to help clients identify and implement the best solutions to drive their business growth.”

Paul Sargeant, Director – Enterprise Asset Management & Enterprise Information Management: Paul will lead the sales and work with delivery teams to support clients through the planning, implementation and the ongoing management of enterprise asset management and enterprise information management solutions.

Paul Sargeant, Director - Enterprise Asset Mgmt & Enterprise Information Mgmt, said:  “Most of our clients, being either in government or heavily regulated industries, have implemented physical records management systems to meet regulatory compliance. Most of them have also implemented collaboration tools, such as SharePoint, to provide greater access to business information. They need help to align their information management initiatives and develop a comprehensive strategy, where information is truly seen as an asset for the business.”

“In addition, new technologies entering the market, such as smart meters and RFID, are creating much greater levels of data that need to be collected and managed. We work with our clients to understand their data and help them gain a competitive advantage by maximising their business intelligence and predictive analytics tools.  This is especially important in the asset management market where predictive analytics, for example, can help direct resources to address aging assets before they fail,” said Sargeant.

“Not only are asset intensive businesses looking to gain an advantage from a better understanding of their data, they are also looking to drive improved decision making on the utilisation of their assets.  Whilst the foundation is a proven asset management solution, such as Maximo from IBM, additional value is derived by ensuring key business systems, such as geospatial and real time systems, are integrated into the core asset management system,” continued Sargeant.

Previously Paul Sargeant led Logica’s public sector and transport clients as the company’s Industry Director for Government & Transport. He has more than 20 years’ delivery and sales experience with extensive experience supporting transport and asset intensive organisations.

Carly Rogowski, Director – Smart Infrastructure: Carly will lead the sales  and work closely with delivery teams to help clients design, build, deploy and manage data centre technology solutions that fall under the smart infrastructure umbrella of services. This includes private cloud deployment, networking, virtualisation, desktop optimisation, security, data management and storage, and disaster recovery services.

Carly Rogowski, said: “There is a continual drive for clients’ to find greater efficiencies out of their IT infrastructure by reducing costs, maximising their resources, and reducing their ongoing support and management costs. There are a myriad of solutions available today, however we find clients’ inundated by the choice of solutions and need support from our team in determining the best fit for their business needs.

Our government clients also need help as they are driving for consolidation and standardisation of ICT infrastructures that need to support a variety of government agencies. We are currently helping many clients integrate disparate systems and applications to achieve a standardised ICT environment that has the flexibility and scalability to suit their requirements.

We are also finding cloud computing is forcing clients to look at their data centre differently and this is opening up opportunities for us from redefining data centre strategies to rolling out desktop virtualisation, mobility projects, or planning for disaster recovery and security."

Carly brings close to 20 years experience in strategic business development for large brands including IBM, Ernst & Young and Dell. During this time she has developed a strong understanding of client needs as well as technologies across the broad IT landscape.
