Logica expands capability in Canberra
Logica, a leading IT and business services provider, has expanded its local resources to further service the Federal Government market by adding 26 new roles to its Canberra team. This expansion is planned to continue throughout 2010 as the company leverages extensive public sector experience and major contract wins to grow the Canberra office.
Logica’s public sector team will be led by Paul Sargeant, Industry Director for Government & Transport, who takes on the role with 20 years’ delivery and sales experience in these key markets. Sargeant will lead the company’s client relationship development strategy for the public sector, driving market development and steering innovation for the industry.
On top of a strong public sector client list, Logica recently won several large government contracts, including CrimTrac, National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), and Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
Sargeant is enthusiastic about the market opportunities for Logica. “Government organisations need trusted technology partners that can be relied upon to provide a seamless service and value for money. We listen to our clients and are noted for our commitment to delivery. Logica has a deep understanding of the issues facing the sector and our business is growing rapidly in this area as a direct result.”
In 2009, Logica was named as the top Government sales performer in the Federal Government ICT market and the fastest growing ICT provider in Canberra at Intermedium’s 2009 Awards.
Colin Holgate, CEO Asia Pacific, explained: “We already provide a wide range of critical IT and business services to organisations across the public sector. Whether it’s designing and rolling out innovative IT solutions, virtualisation of data centres or management of complex IT infrastructures, we have the expertise and industry knowledge to help government organisations operate efficiently and securely.”
“To sustain our current growth and support of our existing government clients, we have recruited a range of highly experienced IT professionals, including project managers and technical architects, with a demonstrated, in-depth understanding of the public sector,” added Holgate.
Logica’s Canberra team also includes newly appointed Wade Randall, as State Delivery Manager. Randall is now responsible for the delivery of all IT projects, including managed services, across the ACT.
His experience includes project management roles for a number of Australian and UK based public service organisations, including the Australian Defence Department, NSW Attorney General’s Department, London City councils, and the Australian National Crime Authority (ANCA).
Logica has also relocated Darren O’Shannassy from Melbourne to Canberra. He brings over twenty years’ experience in providing IT consulting services for organisations in the public sector with previous roles at Capgemini and Ernst & Young. O’Shannassy has a long history of working with the Federal and State governments, along with other public sector organisations.
