What Queensland Urban Utilities needed.

Queensland Urban Utilities uses a MOSAIC™ SCADA system for supervision and automation of operations. It is a powerful SCADA solution that satisfies a full range of requirements for data acquisition, information analysis and distributed systems management. The existing MOSAIC™ system required upgrading. The reinforced system had to offer users a better interface and easier data access so as to ultimately improve productivity. Queensland Urban Utilities needed an implementation partner they could depend on. Logica has been providing telemetry and SCADA solutions for well over 25 years. With an established presence in Australia, we offered Queensland Urban Utilities the assured support and experience they were looking for.

The Challenge.
The existing system had been running reliably on DEC Alpha hardware but this hardware platform was now obsolete and spare parts were difficult to source. Maintenance of the system was no longer a simple task. The need of the hour was to bring about changes that would enhance the system’s functionality whilst making sure quality and performance were not compromised.

The Result.
We migrated, the legacy system on to the Microsoft Windows server platform running the latest version of MOSAIC™. The project had two phases:

Phase 1 - implementing new hardware for the existing (old) MOSAIC™ database format and user interface;
Phase 2 - introducing the new MOSAIC™ user interface and migrating across to the new database format.
