Logica to take on application management outsourcing for KPN network information systems

03 July 2008

Logica, a leading European IT and business services company, today announces the signing of a five-year outsourcing contract with KPN. The contract covers application management services for KPN‘s strategic network information systems. Twelve employees of KPN IT in the Netherlands joined Logica’s Outsourcing Services division on 1 July 2008.

This contract is the result of Logica’s ongoing focus on growing business with customers by demonstrating value to them. The transfer to Logica will allow KPN to continue to implement a strategic sourcing policy achieving higher efficiency through reduced costs of customer services and improved quality of delivery.

Logica is responsible for the management of more than fifty IT applications for network administration and geographical information on network elements in the domain IT4W&O (IT for Wholesale & Operations) of KPN. The managed application portfolio contains both legacy systems and new network information systems that Logica has been developing for KPN since 2005.

Logica will deliver the application management services based on blended sourcing, which means that different activities are performed in the most suitable and cost-effective location. Project management and parts of the incident handling will be provided from Logica’s offices in the Netherlands. The majority of activities will be performed in Logica’s application management centre in Bangalore (India).

KPN and Logica have a strong and long established relationship which has recently been further strengthened with the signing of a three-year contract for the development and management of KPN’s strategic network information systems. In addition, KPN decided in January 08 to outsource its HR Shared Service Centre to Logica (value: 40 million Euros). More information on both contracts can be found here and here.
