Competitive markets
Market infrastructure is essential to facilitate the opening up of electricity, gas and water markets and associated regulatory changes. It relies on large volumes of accurate, often real-time, data that is exchanged electronically between participants. This has a broad impact from trading, through network access, to metering and customer switching. The costs of setting up and operating these markets can be substantial and there is then ongoing change that can provide a continual drain on resources. This has led many organisations to outsource these critical, but non-core, activities.
Companies must also successfully compete through their customer relationships and management, trading and risk management activities. Critically, they need to minimise the cost to serve customers, whilst retaining them through excellent service. At the same time, they are concerned with minimising the risks involved in trading on the wholesale market.
Logica has been providing the market infrastructure at the heart of competitive gas and electricity markets since 1990. Logica set up and operates the core IT systems to support competitive energy markets around the world including in the UK, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Australia and the USA. We provide a wide range of services from consultancy, through systems integration and programme management to fully outsourced services.
We have extensive experience of helping companies to compete. This extends from trading and risk management consultancy and implementations, to major CRM and billing projects. Our mySAP for utilities implementation for Energias de Portugal (EDP) is one of the largest in the world.
